The long-range optimal vision of the trustees at Needham bank was to create a Central Operations Center at their namesake location. The property adjacent to the original Needham Bank was purchased and KBA was engaged to design this facility. The property fronts on a residential neighborhood, unlike the adjacent bank facility that has a main street, business presence. KBA was challenged to design a building that, not only respects the "residential feel" of the neighborhood, but also maintain the Needham Bank brand. Since completion, the feedback from neighbors, town boards and building occupants has been astounding, all indicating that the design challenge was met. The building is a welcome addition to the neighborhood and the Needham Bank.

The quality of the selected building materials is apparent. The copper and synthetic slate roofs and prefinished siding reflects the bank's commitment to longevity. The finishes selected on the interior are handsome and reflect the bank's commitment to sustainability. Overall, the building could qualify to attain the LEED Silver rating.

The design flexibility that will allow change and expansion were factored into the designs for the various departments with well-thought-out groupings of individual offices, open office spaces and conference rooms. The flexible, state-of-the-art training centers and staff meeting and dining areas at the lower level make this building the focus for the Needham Banking System – a main objective that we met.
